Kerry Ferguson and her husband Stuart have enjoyed living in Eugene since 1999. They were invited by their daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea and Rob Loomis to come here on their retirement and watch their three grandchildren, Austin, Madeline, and Peter grow up, which they are thoroughly enjoying. Kerry is a nationally recognized hand knitwear designer, and she and Stuart built a business in Seattle over 18 years that included three stores and an importing business. Prior to that, she taught in Santa Monica Schools and at the John Thomas Dye School in Bel Air for a total of 16 years, and Stuart was a Director at Princess Cruises in Century City. Kerry and Stuart became involved in the Republican Party as sign chairmen in the 2004 campaign. They ended up handing out over 5000 signs. Stuart was asked to take charge of the Election Integrity process during the voting period. He successfully recruited and trained over 100 volunteers to watch over the process at the Election Office, and even trained a number of Democrat watchers as well. Subsequent to the election, they agreed to take on the task of organizing the Lincoln Day Dinners for three years as well as several other events, bringing nationally known speakers Michael Medved, Fred Barnes and Dick Morris, and netting over $150,000 for the party during that time. Stuart also served for a time as Chairman of the Lane County Central Committee. This fall, Kerry decided that 2008 was going to be a watershed year for our country. We will either sink into an abyss of Socialism and secular and hedonist culture as so many Democrats would have us do OR: Rise to champion the Heroic Ideals of our Conservative, God-fearing heritage. She was convinced that by working for a successful election in 2008, we will ensure that our country –
Fred Barnes has said that
To that end, she stood for election as President of the Republican Women of Central Lane and was elected unanimously. She is honored to do so. She asks everyone to become a team member, thinking about how best they can contribute to our goals. She has successfully recruited a fine group of Republican Women to chair the various committees, and she knows each one will create an excellent team around them. By joining the Book Club, you can contribute to strengthening Conservative thought in our community. As a member of the Caring for America committee, you can help care for all aspects of our community – from our environment, to our military families, to our schools. By joining the Legislative Committee, you can help keep us informed of pending laws we need to support or help defeat. Our opinions count when we act together! Membership Committee members will be asking us all to get to know our Republican neighbors better, give them hope for the future and invite them to join the team. There are many more opportunities, and Kerry knows we’ll need each and everyone to become the force we deserve to be. So she sincerely hopes that everyone will step up, sign up,
